Virginia Commonwealth University has long demonstrated a strong ethos of planning. The University’s recently updated strategic plan, The Quest for Distinction, was the foundation for the update to the Campus Master Site Plan, which included both the Monroe Park and MCV campuses. The process included a comprehensive look at the physical environment of the campus and how that environment helps VCU succeed as a high-quality urban environment for education, research and patient care. Formulating a unified campus vision for VCU, included an analysis of existing space utilization to assure that the University’s current resources were being deployed to their greatest advantage. BCWH has a long history of working with VCU on planning engagements and managed the previous two master plans for the University in 2004 and 1996. BCWH lead and managed the 2013 planning process in collaboration with Ayers Saint Gross.
