Subsequent to the Owner's decision to relocate the courthouse from its historic site, BCWH was hired to design the Courthouse at its new location, an adjoining site in downtown Lexington. The Rockbridge County Courthouse Project consisted of a new building and parking deck structure constructed on the corner of Nelson Street and Randolph Street in downtown Lexington, Virginia. This project combined all three courts, clerks, and associated court functions in one facility. The project also included a 145-space parking deck, including secure parking area for court staff and judges that is directly adjacent to the building.
Rockbridge County Courthouse was awarded the 2009 Interior Design Excellence Award (IDEA) and the 2009 Better Models Development Award from the Valley Conservation Council.
