Soon to be named the Forrer Learning Commons, Bridgewater College envisioned the original Alexander Mack Memorial Library to serve as a beacon on campus and act as a place where individuals can come to imagine, learn and produce meaningful research and projects.
BCWH gathered programmatic needs and design goals through community meetings and discoveries with the library staff and administration to plan for this complete renovation and addiiton. The team then reached out to Bridgewater’s students through campus surveys and focus groups to show the key wants and needs of the community. As a result of these conversations, the design team was able to better understand what was most important when planning the library. The project is scheduled to wrap up design development in the early part of 2017. The future project schedule will be dictated by fundraising efforts.
BCWH and Tappé Architects collaborated on this library project along with the Bridgewater community. Together, the team has successfully brought future proof library designs to communities that are aligned to their specific needs.
