BCWH wins 3 Interior Design Excellence Awards

October 30, 2013

We are excited to announce that BCWH has received not one, not two, but three Interior Design Excellence Awards from the Virginia Chapter of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) & IIDA (International Interior Design Association).

The Virginia Commonwealth University, School of the Arts Administrative Suite Renovation took home the First Place prize for the Contract Institutional category. The design goal was to pull all of the administration areas together and create a space that would attract perspective students and visitors. The bright and open space provides casual collaborative areas with transparency, equality and lightness. The judges commented on the use of graphics, material selection and visual presentation

The new Fluvanna High School took home an Honorable Mention award in the Contract Institutional category. The design solution focuses on new learning and teaching styles. Unlike many older educational facilities, all spaces had a direct and open connection to the outside. The judges commented on the material use, color palette and energetic learning environments.

Lastly, renovation of the Gayton Public Library in Henrico County took home an Honorable Mention award in the Contract Government category. Through the design process the team created dedicated spaces for children and teens. The neutral color palette is punctuated by bright and vibrant colors to define and distinguish the different areas. The judges commented on the interesting lighting and variety of furnishings.

Congratulations to our clients, our interior designers, and the entire design teams that helped take these projects from ideas to functional, award-winning spaces!
