MLK Preschool Wins Silver
In conjunction with the 2015 Virginia School Boards Association annual convention held in Williamsburg, VA, three architects and three schools were recognized in the VSBA’s Exhibition of School Architecture.
Winning projects were selected from 10 entries submitted by 9 architectural firms in the areas of new construction, renovation and adaptive use of existing space. We are happy to announce that BCWH and Richmond City Public Schools won a Silver Design Award for the new construction of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Preschool Learning Center.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Preschool Learning Center provides community preschoolers an opportunity to enter a custom tailored early childhood learning environment. As a final phase of the recently completed Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School, this new facility shares the urban site. The new Preschool Learning Center creates a new stand alone building and supportive site uniquely suited to younger children. The new 22,097 SF building accommodates 260 students ages 3-5 years old in 13 classrooms, flexible common space learning areas, a multi-purpose room, associated administration spaces and approximately 10,000 square feet of outdoor learning and play spaces.
