Kaechele Elementary School receives LEED Silver certification!

April 8, 2014

BCWH is excited to announce that our latest new elementary school project, Kaechele Elementary School in Henrico County, has received LEED Silver Certification!

The orientation of the building, minimized building footprint (through the use of 2-stories), day-lighting strategies, low-odor (VOC) paints and adhesives, operable windows, CO2 sensors, and natural fabrics are all aspects of the Kaechele’s sustainable design. All of the exterior materials were chosen to be no- or low-maintenance and preferably recycled or recyclable. Additional sustainable design elements for Kaechele include spaces reserved for fuel-efficient vehicles, a white roof to reduce heat-island effect, improved acoustics, and a recycling room.
