Bat Baxes

January 15, 2013

A donated sheet of marine grad plywood plus two hours prep time equals three sizable bat box colonies. Tight, thermally sealed buildings trend away from the eaves and overhangs where bats have historically nested. In an effort to provide habitat and curb the declining population from white nose syndrome, which wakes bats during their normal hibernation phase, we worked again with our Colonial Trail Elementary friends to assemble three bat boxes. They plan to paint, seal, and hang the boxes around their school grounds.
